Cat Vaccination Shortage
There is currently a nationwide shortage of cat vaccines due to a supply chain issue. This means that veterinary practices around the UK are currently working with a limited allocation of vaccines. There is expected to be delays in vaccine deliveries until November.
We have taken a number of steps to manage this situation and your cats/kittens health is our priority as always 🐱🐱🐱
- We will be delaying yearly booster vaccines for the next 3 months- if your cat is due their yearly booster vaccination then they are perfectly safe to wait a few extra months. They will remain protected by their previous vaccinations and we will be in contact with you when it is time for your cats next booster.
- We will be prioritising kitten vaccinations, particularly kittens due their second vaccination. However as we do have a limited allocation of vaccines there may also be a delay in how soon we can vaccinate your kitten. We generally wouldn’t advise kittens leave the house until they have been neutered/spayed to prevent unwanted pregnancies and as such your kitten should be safe to wait until slightly older to have their first vaccination. We would advise that they don’t mix with unvaccinated cats during this period.
- We are still providing microchips and neutering as usual, so please call the surgery if your kitten requires either of these services and our team will be happy to help you.
If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us and one of our friendly team will be happy to discuss your queries🐈
We will be monitoring the situation closely and will update you, as and when we receive new information.😻
Many Thanks,
